Kostera Sporting Precinct: Additional Female Change Rooms & Kalamunda Little Athletics Club - new Storeroom

Location : Kostera Oval Sporting Precinct, Pat Moran Pavilion - 3 Recreation Road, Kalamunda.

Commencement Date: 29 November 2021

As part of the 2021/22 financial budget, the City of Kalamunda have planned building extension works as per Recreation and Culture - Sub Program Property Maintenance and Construction.

These works will take place at the rear of the Pat Moran Pavilion, near the Football/Cricket entrance (off Recreation Road) between the hours of 7.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday and will have limited impacts on normal operations at the site.

The City would like to assure the community, that every effort will be made during these works to minimise impact on those who live nearby and also to the environment.

Background

In the 2020/2021 City of Kalamunda annual budget, an amount of $2 million allocated to upgrade facilities at four sites across the City to provide unisex changing facilities to accommodate the growth in female participation in many of the previously male dominated sports of which Kostera Oval was identified as one of the key sites.

Additionally, the user groups at the site namely Kalamunda and Lesmurdie Little Athletics Club and the Kalamunda and Districts Junior Football Club (KDJFC) submitted an application and a funding contribution to the City to extend the pavilion along the rear wall to provide additional storage space. The City has also secured a grant of $38,000 through the Department of Local, Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund program towards the project.

Other benefits of the project are the upgrading of the internal universal access toilet the meet current disability access requirements (AS1428) as well as a new umpires shower and changeroom facility.
