Prepare your application

For your application to be shortlisted, it must demonstrate that you meet the minimum criteria for the position.

2. Create your Covering Letter (max. 2 pages); include response to the Selection Criteria (if required, see advertisement); and
3. Update your Curriculum Vitae (Resume), ensure it includes:

Attending the Interview

1. Bring along any supporting documents, if required.
2. Arrive 15 minutes early to read through the interview questions and prepare your responses.
3. The recruitment panel consists of at least two members. Interviews follow a set format to ensure equity and fairness to each applicant.
4. Interviews range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration depending on the role.

Further Assessment

• After the interview, People Services may contact your referees to conduct a Reference Check
• For some roles a medical and/or drug & alcohol screen maybe undertaken
• For some senior or specialty roles further selection testing may be undertaken such as skills assessment tests, emotional intelligence tests and/or cognitive ability tests.
• For some roles a police check and/or Working with Children Check will be required.
• All successful candidates will need to provide 100 points of ID and proof of their working rights in Australia.

Outcome

• The successful candidate will be verbally offered the position, on acceptance they are given a written Offer of Employment.
• Once they accept, the other interviewed candidates will be advised by phone call and all other candidates will be advised by email.

About this Opportunity

As Coordinator Infrastructure Planning, you will lead the strategic planning, development and delivery of the City's infrastructure and asset management programs. Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will drive long-term capital planning, asset management initiatives, grant funding opportunities and infrastructure investment strategies to ensure sustainable, community-focused outcomes. This is a key leadership role responsible for shaping the City's future infrastructure while balancing community needs, organisational priorities and financial sustainability. 

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead the development and coordination of the City's long-term infrastructure and asset management planning.
• Manage the preparation and delivery of the capital works program and associated budgets.
• Drive strategic asset management initiatives that support sustainable service delivery and community outcomes.
• Coordinate grant funding opportunities and oversee the preparation of high-quality funding submissions.
• Provide expert advice and recommendations on infrastructure planning, investment and asset management.
• Develop and maintain frameworks, strategies and policies that support informed infrastructure decision-making.
• Engage with internal stakeholders, community members and industry partners to identify and deliver infrastructure priorities.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing Infrastructure Planning team.
• Monitor performance, identify continuous improvement opportunities and ensure the effective delivery of services and projects.

• Possession of a Civil Engineering degree, equivalent tertiary qualification, or substantial (5 years) relevant experience.
• Diploma/Professional Certificate in Asset Management or equivalent experience.
• Possession of a construction White Card.
• A satisfactory National Police Certificate

This is a permanent full-time role working Monday to Friday, 75 hours over a 9-day fortnight with a rostered day off.

About this Opportunity

As the Coordinator Community Safety, you will lead the City’s Community Safety and Emergency Management functions, ensuring programs, services and initiatives align with the City’s vision, Corporate Business Plan and strategic objectives. The role is responsible for operational planning, budget management, policy development and identifying funding opportunities, while delivering innovative community safety programs that enhance the wellbeing, resilience and safety of the community.

Providing expert advice and recommendations to Management, the Executive Leadership Team, Council and Advisory Committees, you will play a key role in supporting informed decision-making on Community Safety and Emergency Management matters. Drawing on your knowledge of legislative requirements, industry best practice and emerging risks, you will contribute to the achievement of strategic and operational objectives while building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through the delivery of professional customer service and technical expertise.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Substantial leadership experience within Community Safety, Ranger Services, Emergency Management or a related regulatory environment.
• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering programs, initiatives and services that achieve positive community safety outcomes.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Experience developing and implementing strategic and operational plans, including budget management and performance monitoring.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation, local laws, regulatory compliance and statutory functions.
• Highly developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation and consultation skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across the community, government agencies and external partners.
• Experience in policy development, emergency management, court and prosecution processes, and the interpretation and enforcement of legislation.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex issues, balance competing priorities and provide strategic advice to senior management., mentoring, staff development and performance management is essential.
• Certificate IV in Local Government Governance (Regulatory Services) or equivalent relevant experience.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a full-time Waste Education & Projects Officer to join the City in a varied and challenging role. You’ll be an enthusiastic team player with an interest in waste minimisation, resource recovery, and recycling.

About this Opportunity

This position will ensure that the City of Kalamunda is fulfilling its commitment, and is compliant with, Western Australia’s Waste Strategy, Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery (WARR) Strategy 2030, and the City’s Waste Plan. The role will work closely with stakeholder groups to raise awareness of, and increase, participation in recycling and resource recovery programs and take a leadership role within the community promoting the City’s efforts in waste minimisation.

 Key skills and experience required for this position:

• Implement actions to align the City of Kalamunda with the Waste Avoidance & Resource Recovery (WARR) Strategy 2030 – WA’s Waste Strategy.
• Implement actions identified in the Regional Waste Education Strategy
• Address community waste contamination issues and develop targeted projects to manage and reduce contamination.
• Manage and expand recycling and resource recovery initiatives, including the City’s recycling hubs.
• Respond to community enquiries and provide accurate waste service information.
• Coordinate waste education and resource recovery projects from planning through implementation and review.
• Present advice, instruction, guidance, and research findings, both verbally and in writing, for executive management and the community.
• Investigate and manage grant applications and acquittals.
• Manage allocated budget to maintain quality and standard of work.
• Manage and maintain all waste and recycling information sources across various media.
• Develop, implement, and monitor effective measures of community awareness of resource recovery matters.
• Develop and provide waste and recycling education activities, programs, and materials for varied stakeholder groups to improve waste minimisation.

Hours of Work

This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours per fortnight.

About the Benefits

This position offers a Level 6 salary being $93,063.28 – $100,087.65 per annum (depending on experience and skill level), plus superannuation.

 Flexible work arrangements or the option for a rostered day off fortnightly or monthly is available.

Other inclusions are free parking, annual increments, EBA salary increases, a generous superannuation co-contribution scheme, 22 days annual leave which attracts 17.5% loading, Medibank/HIF/HBF Corporate Membership, free access to online learning, discounted membership at City owned facilities.
