Prepare your application
For your application to be shortlisted, it must demonstrate that you meet the minimum criteria for the position.
- Read the Advertisement and the Position Description. The Position Description is available on our website under the job listing in Career Opportunities.
- Create your Covering Letter (max. 2 pages); include response to the Selection Criteria (if required, see advertisement); and
- Update your Curriculum Vitae (Resume), ensure it includes:
- Full name
- Daytime contact number
- Email address
- Home address
- Work history (most recent first)
- Education and training history
- Contact details for at least two referees that can comment on your recent work history from a supervisory capacity.
Submit your application
- Submit your application through SEEK as soon as possible as the advertisement may close early if there is a large pool of suitable applicants. Late applications may not be accepted.
- Please ensure you combine documents so that there is a maximum of two attachments only.
- If you are unable to submit your application online, please call the People Services representative, details included in the advertisement.

Prepare for the interview
- Read the Position Description again and prepare your responses to the criteria. This is available on our website under the job listing in Career Opportunities.
- Research the City of Kalamunda by reviewing details on our website.
- Write down any questions you would like to ask regarding the role or conditions of employment.
Attending the Interview
- Bring along any supporting documents, if required.
- Arrive 15 minutes early to read through the interview questions and prepare your responses.
- The recruitment panel consists of at least two members. Interviews follow a set format to ensure equity and fairness to each applicant.
- Interviews range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration depending on the role.
Further Assessment
- After the interview, People Services may contact your referees to conduct a Reference Check
- For some roles a medical and/or drug & alcohol screen maybe undertaken
- For some senior or specialty roles further selection testing may be undertaken such as skills assessment tests, emotional intelligence tests and/or cognitive ability tests.
- For some roles a police check and/or Working with Children Check will be required.
- All successful candidates will need to provide 100 points of ID and proof of their working rights in Australia.
Outcome
- The successful candidate will be verbally offered the position, on acceptance they are given a written Offer of Employment.
- Once they accept, the other interviewed candidates will be advised by phone call and all other candidates will be advised by email.
