About this Opportunity
As the Coordinator Community Safety, you will lead the City’s Community Safety and Emergency Management functions, ensuring programs, services and initiatives align with the City’s vision, Corporate Business Plan and strategic objectives.
The role is responsible for operational planning, budget management, policy development and identifying funding opportunities, while delivering innovative community safety programs that enhance the wellbeing, resilience and safety of the community.
Providing expert advice and recommendations to Management, the Executive Leadership Team, Council and Advisory Committees, you will play a key role in supporting informed decision-making on Community Safety and Emergency Management matters. Drawing on
your knowledge of legislative requirements, industry best practice and emerging risks, you will contribute to the achievement of strategic and operational objectives while building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders through
the delivery of professional customer service and technical expertise.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Substantial leadership experience within Community Safety, Ranger Services, Emergency Management or a related regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering programs, initiatives and services that achieve positive community safety outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Experience developing and implementing strategic and operational plans, including budget management and performance monitoring.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, local laws, regulatory compliance and statutory functions.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation and consultation skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across the community, government agencies and external partners.
- Experience in policy development, emergency management, court and prosecution processes, and the interpretation and enforcement of legislation.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage complex issues, balance competing priorities and provide strategic advice to senior management., mentoring, staff development and performance management
is essential.
- Certificate IV in Local Government Governance (Regulatory Services) or equivalent relevant experience.
Hours of Work
This is a permanent full-time role working Monday to Friday, 75 hours over a 9-day fortnight with a rostered day off.
About the Benefits
This position offers a salary of Level 9 being $122,005 – $129,864 per annum, plus superannuation.
