About this Opportunity
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of strategic land use planning initiatives that support the City’s long-term vision and growth. You will provide professional and administrative support across the planning and delivery of key projects, including scheme amendments, structure plans, policies and development-related projects aligned with the City’s Strategic Community Plan and Local Planning Strategy.
Working closely with internal teams, stakeholders and the community, you will help ensure the City’s strategic planning function is delivered in accordance with statutory requirements and the City’s planning philosophy. The role also involves providing sound professional advice on strategic land use planning matters and supporting the ongoing development, implementation and administration of the Local Planning Strategy, Local Planning Scheme and associated planning policies.
Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide professional customer service for strategic planning enquiries
- Support the Strategic Planning team with timely responses and advice
- Consult with landowners, developers and government agencies
- Undertake research to inform strategic planning priorities and decisions
- Prepare reports, briefing notes and strategic planning documentation
- Assist with scheme amendments, structure plans and planning policies
- Coordinate strategic projects and manage consultants and stakeholders
- Prepare reports and support matters for Council and Committee meetings
- Contribute to continuous improvement, collaboration and team outcomes

The successful candidate will have the following:
- A tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or related field and relevant experience in the planning profession.
- Fulfil requirements to hold a full membership of Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate

This is a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours per fortnight.
This position offers a salary of Level 6 being $93,063 to $100,087.65 per annum, (depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant) plus 12% superannuation.
