The City of Kalamunda is seeking a skilled Coordinator Waste & Fleet to oversee waste operations, resource recovery programs and the management of the City’s fleet and plant assets. About this Opportunity
As Coordinator Waste & Fleet, you will play a key role in coordinating the City’s waste operations, resource recovery programs and fleet lifecycle management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating waste collection, disposal and resource recovery services
- Managing fleet and plant lifecycle including procurement, maintenance and compliance
- Supervising operational staff and ensuring safe workshop and depot operations
- Managing service contracts in line with procurement and contract management requirements
- Supporting the preparation and monitoring of operational budgets and forward programs
- Providing operational advice, reports and briefings to senior management
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery and sustainability
This role also contributes to achieving the objectives of the State Waste Strategy to 2030 and supports the delivery of environmentally responsible waste management services across the community.
Selection Criteria
- Previous experience in best practice waste collection and disposal services and understand and be aware of waste management industry trends.
- Demonstrate 5 years of experience in a supervisor position.
- Proven skills in contract management, budget, grant application and acquittal, and project delivery.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills including negotiation and conflict resolution and the ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated high level organisational and administration skills with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters appropriately.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to effectively manage time and resources to meet deadlines under competing priorities and ensure delivery of a high-level service to the community.
- Highly developed written skills including the ability to undertake research, develop complex proposals, write technical and strategic documents and submissions, including policies and procedures.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise good judgement and initiative when required.
- Ability to use personal computer applications and in particular the Microsoft Office suite of products.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time, permanent position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours per fortnight. However, flexibility to work part-time hours can be considered for the right candidate.

This position offers a salary of Level 9 being $122,005.17 – $129,864.52 per annum, (depending on experience and skill level) plus superannuation.
