About this Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager Place & Community Experience, the Coordinator Activation & Experience provides strategic and operational leadership for the City’s Activation & Experience business unit, bringing together Economic Development, Tourism, Arts & Culture and Events to drive economic, cultural and destination outcomes across Kalamunda.
The role will lead the development and delivery of initiatives that activate places, strengthen the local economy, grow visitation, attract investment and create distinctive experiences that build community pride and connection. Through strong leadership of people, programs, partnerships and key cultural and visitor facilities, the Coordinator will ensure the City’s investment in activation and experience delivers measurable community, economic and place-based outcomes.
A key focus of the position is unlocking the potential of Kalamunda’s places, businesses and destinations. The Coordinator will champion a place-based approach to economic development leveraging local strengths, identifying emerging opportunities, and building strategic partnerships with businesses, tourism operators, investors, artists, event organisers and community organisations and government agencies, to thrive. The role will oversee destination marketing, visitor experiences, arts and cultural programs, major events, and key community facilities to ensure they contribute to a strong local economy and an exceptional visitor experience.
Working closely with the Place & Community team, and across the organisation the Coordinator will embed the City's placemaking principles and concierge approach helping navigate barriers, connect opportunities and influence strategy, infrastructure and investment decisions. Using data, community insight and a strong understanding of place, the position will identify opportunities for activation and ensure programs and resources are targeted where they can create the greatest impact.
The Coordinator Activation & Experience will play a pivotal role in shaping Kalamunda as a vibrant and distinctive destination where people choose to visit, invest, create, do business, work and belong.
Key Capabilities & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering strategic and operational plans across one or more of the following areas: economic development, tourism, arts, culture, or events, including setting and monitoring goals and managing budgets and overseeing project implementation.
- Proven ability to design and deliver impactful events or programs that drive community cultural or economic outcomes, aligned with broader strategic objectives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams, community groups, industry partners and government agencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in preparing clear reports, strategy documents and professional presentations for a range of audiences.
Hours of Work
This is a permanent full-time role working Monday to Friday, 75 hours over a 9-day fortnight with a rostered day off.
About the Benefits
This position offers a salary of Level 8/9 being $111,376 – $129,864 per annum, (depending on experience and skill level) plus superannuation.
