Prepare your application

Attending the Interview

1. Bring along any supporting documents, if required.
2. Arrive 15 minutes early to read through the interview questions and prepare your responses.
3. The recruitment panel consists of at least two members. Interviews follow a set format to ensure equity and fairness to each applicant.
4. Interviews range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration depending on the role.

Further Assessment

• After the interview, People Services may contact your referees to conduct a Reference Check
• For some roles a medical and/or drug & alcohol screen maybe undertaken
• For some senior or specialty roles further selection testing may be undertaken such as skills assessment tests, emotional intelligence tests and/or cognitive ability tests.
• For some roles a police check and/or Working with Children Check will be required.
• All successful candidates will need to provide 100 points of ID and proof of their working rights in Australia.

Outcome

• The successful candidate will be verbally offered the position, on acceptance they are given a written Offer of Employment.

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Coordinator Rates, the purpose of this role is to provide a high level of quality customer service and assistance to the public with rating queries via in person conversations, telephone calls and written correspondence.

 Key Duties include:

• Executing changes of ownership and issue of settlement statements,
• Actioning change of address matters to maintain the rates database,
• Assisting in the administration and management of the debt recovery process and procedures in accordance with Council policies and external legislation,
• Administration, monitoring and maintenance of rates related payment arrangements,
• Assisting in interim rating matters which include property creation and rating; and
• Processing of pensioner/senior application forms.

The ideal candidate will be self-driven, able to effectively manage their time, and confident in using their initiative to support the team.

This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours per fortnight, with an option for flexible work arrangements including a fortnightly or monthly rostered day off.

An Irrigation Maintainer should have strong practical and technical skills, including experience with large-scale irrigation systems, site control systems such as Signal and Rainbird, and the ability to diagnose faults across multicore and two-wire systems. The role also requires the ability to read irrigation plans, carry out basic installations, maintain equipment, and identify pump issues.

About this Opportunity

Provide high quality operational People & Culture support aligned with the City’s strategic objectives and organisational priorities.  The People & Culture Officer delivers end to end recruitment services, employee lifecycle administration, HR systems support and first line advisory assistance. The role works collaboratively with leaders and employees to ensure people processes are consistent, compliant, efficient and people focused. • Possession of, or progress towards a relevant qualification and/or equivalent relevant experience in administration, customer service or Human Resources services.

The role will lead the development and delivery of initiatives that activate places, strengthen the local economy, grow visitation, attract investment and create distinctive experiences that build community pride and connection. Through strong leadership of people, programs, partnerships and key cultural and visitor facilities, the Coordinator will ensure the City’s investment in activation and experience delivers measurable community, economic and place-based outcomes.

A key focus of the position is unlocking the potential of Kalamunda’s places, businesses and destinations. The Coordinator will champion a place-based approach to economic development   leveraging local strengths, identifying emerging opportunities, and building strategic partnerships with businesses, tourism operators, investors, artists, event organisers and community organisations and government agencies, to thrive. The role will oversee destination marketing, visitor experiences, arts and cultural programs, major events, and key community facilities to ensure they contribute to a strong local economy and an exceptional visitor experience.

Working closely with the Place & Community team, and across the organisation the Coordinator will embed the City's placemaking principles and concierge approach helping navigate barriers, connect opportunities and influence strategy, infrastructure and investment decisions. Using data, community insight and a strong understanding of place, the position will identify opportunities for activation and ensure programs and resources are targeted where they can create the greatest impact.

The Coordinator Activation & Experience will play a pivotal role in shaping Kalamunda as a vibrant and distinctive destination where people choose to visit, invest, create, do business, work and belong.

Key Capabilities & Experience

1. Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering strategic and operational plans across one or more of the following areas: economic development, tourism, arts, culture, or events, including setting and monitoring goals and managing budgets and overseeing project implementation.
2. Proven ability to design and deliver impactful events or programs that drive community cultural or economic outcomes, aligned with broader strategic objectives.

Reporting to the Coordinator People & Culture, you will play a key role in managing the City’s fortnightly payroll and maintaining the integrity of our payroll systems and records.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing end-to-end fortnightly payroll processing accurately and on time
• Maintaining payroll system integrity and accurate employee records
• Providing advice on payroll matters, including legislation, Awards, Industrial Agreements, policies and employment contracts
• Processing termination payments, leave entitlements, superannuation and other payroll transactions
• Undertaking payroll audits, exception reporting and reconciliations
• Supporting end-of-financial-year and end-of-tax-year reporting and compliance
• Responding to internal and external audit requirements
• Managing payroll-related transactions including novated leases and long service leave records
• Reviewing payroll processes and systems to identify opportunities for greater efficiency

About You

 

We are looking for someone who knows payroll beyond simply processing a pay run.

You will bring:

• Strong knowledge of payroll and accounting procedures and practices
• Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll and compliance reporting
• The ability to interpret Awards, Industrial Agreements, legislation and employment conditions
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Confidence providing payroll advice to employees and leaders across all levels of an organisation
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Well-developed Microsoft Office and payroll/financial management system skills, with TechOne experience highly regarded
• A relevant qualification or progression towards one and/or a minimum of five years' payroll experience.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated sound knowledge of payroll/accounting procedures and policies.
2. Experience in end to end payroll functions and compliance reporting.
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to negotiate and liaise with external agencies and stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated effective communications skills enabling payroll information to be understood by all levels across the City, from front line employees to the CEO.
5. A sound level of understanding of Local Government functions including ability to interpret the City’s Industrial Agreements.
6. High quality and accurate presentation of advice both verbal and written, via all standard forms of business communication.
7. Well-developed Microsoft Office and payroll/financial management system skills, with TechOne experience highly regarded.
8. Excellent and accurate data entry skills.
