Switch Your Thinking 

The City has partnered with Switch Your Thinking to work towards some of the actions in the above-mentioned plans. Switch your Thinking is a local government initiative based in Perth, Western Australia. 

Switch Your Thinking’s work aligns with many of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, with particular focus on 

• climate action
• sustainable cities and communities
• affordable and clean energy
• responsible production and consumption
• ecosystem health
• developing partnerships. FOGO

 

As a partner Council with Switch Your Thinking, residents are eligible for the Rewards for Residents program. Switch Your Thinking has partnered with local businesses to offer discounts on products that will help you reduce your energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions, cut water use and limit waste. Switch Your Thinking also offers businesses located in the City of Kalamunda discounts on products that will help you to cut waste and reduce energy/water use such as solar panels and batteries, insulation, business energy audits and more. Head to the Rewards for Business page for more details.

Another perk for businesses is the Switched On Business Awards which celebrate environmentally conscious businesses who have made great efforts to make their operations more sustainable. Twice a year, businesses in the City of Kalamunda can apply to the Switched On Business Awards to be celebrated for their efforts to reduce environmental impacts. Winners will receive a framed certificate which is presented by a Councillor from the local government at an official event. If you are the winner, your business will be acknowledged on the Switch Your Thinking website, Facebook and LinkedIn pages and the e-newsletters. Energy Audit Kits are now available from City of Kalamunda library. These can be loaned out for 2 weeks. Residents can DIY a home energy audit using information and testing equipment as part of Switch Your Thinking's Energy Efficiency Pilot Program.
