The City of Kalamunda advises that a temporary closure of a portion of Carinyah Road (a non-sealed track within State Forest in Pickering Brook) is proposed.
This closure is required to support updated legislative requirements affecting local rifle clubs operating in the area.
What is changing?
A section of Carinyah Road, beyond the main accessible area and within State Forest, will be temporarily closed to public access on weekends only.
The weekend closure will occur on a recurring basis and is expected to remain in place until 1 June 2027, unless otherwise determined by the City.
The road:
Is an unsealed 4WD track
Is used for recreational access only
Does not serve as a through road or primary transport route
Terminates shortly beyond the proposed closure point
Why is the closure required?
Recent changes to legislation affecting rifle / firearms organisations require additional safety controls. The temporary closure will allow the Armadale/Byford Pickering Brook Rifle Club and the Darling Ranges Rifle Club to continue operating safely and in accordance with legislative requirements.
