The proposed High Wycombe Community Hub has reached another important milestone.

The State Government has committed an additional $9.55 million to the project, building on the City of Kalamunda’s $10 million commitment and the original $30 million contributions from the State and Commonwealth Governments.

This brings total committed funding for the proposed Hub to $79.55 million.

The project has also progressed through detailed design and scope refinement, informed by one of the City’s largest recent community engagement programs.

Almost 1,000 people participated directly in the engagement, including 693 survey respondents, with strong support for modern aquatic facilities, gym and fitness spaces, accessibility, affordability and community activation.

 The proposed Hub would include indoor and outdoor lap pools, family and learn-to-swim pools, a warm-water pool and spa, sauna, gym and fitness spaces, café or kiosk, crèche and allied health facilities.

 The design will also future-proof the facility for later stages if further funding is secured.

 City of Kalamunda Mayor Margaret Thomas said the additional State funding recognised both the need for the facility and its wider importance to the High Wycombe precinct.

 “The City has committed $10 million because the proposed Hub would provide modern, year-round aquatic, recreation and community facilities for a growing part of our City,” Mayor Thomas said.

 “The community has been clear about what it values, and that feedback has helped guide the project through detailed design.

 “The proposed Hub would also support the continued development of the High Wycombe Station precinct and High Wycombe South, helping create new opportunities for community activity, business, employment and future investment.”

 Mayor Thomas said the additional funding was an important step, but further decisions were still required.

“The City must now complete the tender processes, assess the outcomes and return to Council with the final cost and delivery position.

 “We will continue to provide clear information as the project moves through each of those steps.”

Subject to tender outcomes and Council approval, construction is currently expected to commence in early 2027.

 For now, the community’s vision has moved another step closer to delivery.
