Honouring Sacrifice: Anzac Day Dawn Services in Kalamunda
Residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to honour and reflect on the sacrifices made by our past and present service members during two Dawn Service events in the City of Kalamunda this Anzac Day.
The 2024 Dawn Service at the War Memorial, Kostera Oval, hosted by RSL Kalamunda, will commence at 6:00am. To ensure everyone can participate, two viewing screens and loud audio will be installed for the service. Please note that road closures will be in effect between 5:00am and 7:30am at Recreation Road and Canning Road (between Burt Street and Central Avenue) in Kalamunda.
Additionally, the 2024 Dawn Service at the Pickering Brook War Memorial, hosted by the Pickering Group Heritage Group, will also commence at 6:00am.
Those wishing to attend either event are kindly requested to arrive early and be assembled by 5:45am.
Mayor Margaret Thomas underscored the significance of this day, stating, “This day is a time of reflection, a moment to honour the men and women who have fallen and those who continue to serve today.”
“Their sacrifice represents the ultimate contribution to our community, for which we are eternally grateful. Lest we forget.”
