Zig Zag Art Gallery

The Zig Zag Art Gallery actively develops and presents exhibitions in partnership with artists, curators and community groups that are both of, and for, the Perth Hills region. Presenting a range of events, artist talks, workshops, exhibitions and residencies throughout our annual programme, the gallery is a hub for cultural expression, education and appreciation for Western Australian contemporary art.

Kalamunda Art Award 2026 

The annual Kalamunda Art Award provides an opportunity for artists to present their work and be considered for cash prizes in a range of categories. The exhibition in non-acquisitive, and features a broad range of artistic media and themes, with all works available for sale.

  • Call Out: 13 April – 3 May 
  • Entries close: Sunday 3 May 
  • Shortlisted artists notified: Tuesday 5 May 
  • Artwork deliveries: 10am – 4pm Tuesday 2 June 
  • Opening Event: Saturday 6 June 2026 
  • Exhibition dates: 6 June – 28 June 
  • Announcement of People’s Choice Award winner: 29 June 
  • Collection of unsold work: 10am - 4pm, Monday, 29 June 

Size limits 

  • 2D works : 1000mm x 1000mm and not weighing more than 15kg 
  • 3D and sculpture: 1000mm x 1000mm x 1000 mm and not weighing more than 15kg 

 

Application Fee 

  • $30 per entry, (limited to one entry / artist) 
  • Fees paid only when the artwork has been accepted 
  • Acceptance of artwork includes delivery in proper condition and ready to hang 
  • Application fees are non-refundable 

 

How to enter 



Exhibit With Us

Exhibition proposals for 2027 will open on Monday, 4 May and close at midnight on Sunday, 27 July. We invite proposals from artists, curators and community groups which will be evaluated by a panel of industry experts. The selected exhibitions will be presented as part of our annual programme in 2027.
