Register now for the 2024 Great Cocky Count!
Run by Birdlife Australia, the Great Cocky Count is the biggest single survey for black-cockatoos in Western Australia.
On Sunday 14 April, volunteers across WA will monitor known roost sites and count black cockatoos as they fly into their evening roosts at sunset.
This annual citizen-science survey provides essential data to estimate population trends for our threatened cockies and to help protect critical habitat.
All volunteers are welcome and no experience is required. Birdlife provide full instructions, or you can attend one of their informative online workshops and training sessions.
Counters are needed to cover sites from Geraldton in the north to Esperance along the south coast.
Register today at: Great Cocky Count - BirdLife Australia
Registrations close Sunday 24 March 2024.
