Extension of Prohibited Burning Period

26 March 2024 4:33 PM

In response to prevailing weather conditions and to ensure the safety of our community, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) Commissioner has officially extended the Prohibited Burning Period for the City of Kalamunda until 14 April 2024.

This extension, as mandated by Section 17 of the Bush Fires Act 1954, prohibits all open-air burning activities.

The decision to extend the Prohibited Burning Period comes as a precautionary measure to mitigate the risk of bushfires during continued dry weather patterns and heightened fire danger. No permits for burning will be issued during this period. The fire conditions will be reassessed before the end of this extension date, and further announcements regarding when burning will be permitted will be made accordingly.

We remind residents and landowners to adhere to this directive to safeguard lives and property. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
