Following the official launch of the 2023 National Road Safety Week in WA, the City of Kalamunda is reminding residents to stay safe on the road.

With approximately 1,200 people killed and more than 40,000 injured on Australian roads each year, National Road Safety Week raises awareness of the impacts of road accidents in our community and reinforces the importance of safe road use.

Mayor Margaret Thomas said National Road Safety Week serves as an important reminder to both motorists, passengers and other road users about how to share our roads.

“More recently, the City of Kalamunda has taken several steps to create safer driving conditions for residents and visitors, including continuous upgrades to roads and endorsing funding as part of the 2024/2025 Metropolitan Regional Roads Group Road Rehabilitation Project Program to enable quality infrastructure development as a commitment to road safety,” Cr Thomas said.

“It’s easy to think it won’t happen to you but spending a few minutes planning, prioritising safety and considering others before you start your journey could save a lot of trauma and heartache for loved ones.”
