The City of Kalamunda Youth Services Team, alongside the Arts and Culture Team, Kalamunda Performing Arts Team, Zig Zag Gallery and Purposeful, is set to host a Careers Day event on Saturday 20 May 2023.

Mayor Margaret Thomas said that the event will allow for young people to better understand their future career paths and facilitate engagement in the local community.

“The event is aimed at the youth community, providing a platform to showcase career options that are not traditionally presented to the younger generation such as entrepreneurial pathways, careers in the arts and behind the scenes careers.”

Purposeful, the team facilitating the event, are a youth-led organization committed to supporting young people in finding their purpose through the course of their lives in a sustainable and scalable way.

The Careers Day will feature three distinctive parts:

• A workshop on direction and decision making with the Purposeful team who are experts in supporting the younger generation envision their future careers.
• Two ‘Fireside Chats’ Career Panels with guest presenters from Purposeful’s Innovation Network
• An Exploration Expo where attendees will be able to have a one-on-one conversation with all guests from the day, as well as connect with the City’s teams (including a backstage tour through the theatre for those interested in a career in theatre!).
