Applications now open for 2023 Local History Awards

Kalamunda Library is holding the inaugural Local History Award in 2023. The City is encouraging the community involvement in recording and promoting the rich history of the City of Kalamunda for future generations. Entries to be received by 5pm on Tuesday, 31 January 2023.

We invite the community to submit their pre-2000 written and photographic memorabilia with historical significance to contribute towards the development of our history and heritage records.  

Entries may relate to people and events in any of the suburbs within the City of Kalamunda (Bickley, Canning Mills, Carmel, Forrestfield, Gooseberry Hill, Hacketts Gully, High Wycombe, Kalamunda, Lesmurdie, Maida Vale, Paulls Valley, Pickering Brook, Piesse Brook and Wattle Grove).

Award Categories are:

  • Written Memoir
    A written memoir up to 2500 words, optionally may include 1 photograph. Write about yourself or someone you know who has lived or worked in the City of Kalamunda, or a group, business, organisation or event in the City of Kalamunda.
  • Photographic Memories
    A photograph from pre-2000 of a significant historic person, place or event, or which convey everyday life in the City of Kalamunda in the past.

There will be two (2) prizes awarded for the Written Memoir and Photographic Memories categories.

Entries are open to all individuals, including non-residents, provided the subject matter is about people, places or events in the City of Kalamunda. Entries will become part of the Local History Collection. Applicants may submit more than one entry.

Submissions close: 5pm on Tuesday, 31 January 2022
