Acclaimed Artist Phil Walleystack Headlines KPAC Performance
Renowned Australian singer-songwriter Phil Walleystack will join the Perth Symphony Orchestra’s string section for one-night at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Centre on 12 September.
City Mayor Margaret Thomas said the evening performance would bring much hope and joy to the local community in the wake of the devastating effects of COVID-19.
“Music is a great healer and Phil’s unique style of storytelling and humour coupled with the classical sounds of the orchestra will create a renewed sense of optimism and delight for everyone who has missed attending live events over the past few months,” Cr Thomas said.
The specially curated concert will take the audience on a fantastic journey with the performance accompanied by carefully selected visuals, lighting design and traditionally inspired contemporary works.
“My job as an entertainer is to take audiences on a journey even if it’s just for a moment,” Phil commented.
“I encourage everyone to come and hear Phil share his captivating stories and hear our musical worlds come together in such a meaningful way,” Perth Symphony Founder and CEO Bourby Webster said.
In addition, there are opportunities for the orchestra’s musicians to visit schools and venues so children and the local community can take part in interactive workshops.
“I am so looking forward to seeing our community come together not only to enjoy the evening performance but also the interactive elements that will reduce stress and foster a sense of fun and well-being for participants,” Cr Thomas said.
The Kalamunda event is part of a six-location tour supported by the Minderoo Foundation, The State Government of Western Australia, Reconciliation WA and the CBH Group.
