City of Kalamunda run Hart-Fit Studios launched ‘Jump Start’ this week, a specially designed multi-discipline 10 week fitness and strength program for school aged youth, years 7 to 11.

The 10 week progressive program, running Wednesdays during school term 3 from July 24, is designed to teach various fitness and strength techniques to young people, with the aim to leave them with lifelong skills.

Students will learn about weight lifting techniques, boxing, super sets, TRX band and suspension training, medicine ball and kettle bell, and other skills facilitated by a professional trainer.

Hart Fit staff have specially designed this course to leave students with skills they can tap into throughout life while offering an energised, fun, social and safe environment.

Research shows developing a life-long relationship with fitness is critical to good health and that individuals form many of these habits during their youth.

“The City is excited to offer our young people this unique, affordable and fun program. There is something for everyone - that is sure to get young people down to the gym and enjoying fitness as part of a healthy lifestyle,” Mayor John Giardina said.

Classes run each Wednesday during term 3 of school (Wednesday 24 July - Wednesday 25 September) starting 24 July from 4pm – 5pm at Hartfield Park Recreation Centre’s Hart-Fit Studio.

The program is heavily discounted at $74.50 per term (works out to $7.45 per session).

Enrolments can be made at Hartfield Park Recreation Centre Hartfield Park Recreation Centre by calling 9359 1700 or emailing recreation@kalamunda.wa.gov.au.
