The City of Kalamunda’s Zig Zag Gallery is inviting local senior artists (aged 55+) to submit their artwork for inclusion in the upcoming Senior Residents Art Exhibition, to be held as part of Seniors’ Week activities in November this year.

Aiming to celebrate the diverse contribution of seniors in the City of Kalamunda area, artists are invited to submit recent work (post November 2018) in any media, addressing this year’s theme ‘Re-Imagined’.

The exhibition, now in its eighth year, is celebrating making the old - new this year’s theme, encouraging artists to submit artworks that re-think old concepts, objects or ideas and bring a fresh perspective.

“Our senior artistic community has a unique and experienced point of view and I am looking forward to seeing the response to this year’s theme - ‘Re-Imagined’. No doubt we will see some fresh and imaginative new takes on ‘old things’ made new”, said Mayor John Giardina.

Selected artwork pieces will be exhibited from 1 to 10 November at Zig Zag Gallery and are available for sale. A Peoples’ Prize will be awarded to the most popular artwork at the end of the exhibition.

The Peoples’ Prize was won by Alison Layfield last year with her work in timber, gauche and watercolour entitled ‘I’m Watching You’.

Registrations close Friday 18 October 2019. All artworks will need be provided to the gallery by Monday 11 November.

For full submission criteria, interested artists can visit the Zig Zag website www.zzcc.com.au or call 9257 9953 and ask for an ‘Information and Application’ form
