Honouring 50 Years of NAIDOC: Celebrating Strength, Vision and Legacy
The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy is the theme for NAIDOC Week 2025. This year is one of great significance, marking 50 years of honouring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience.
The City of Kalamunda is proud to continue supporting NAIDOC Week, unveiling a program that honours this enduring legacy and connects our community to the history, traditions, and achievements of First Nations people.
Mayor Margaret Thomas emphasised the significance of NAIDOC Week “This week is important, in both a historical and cultural context, to reflect on what we have achieved in the past."
"As a community, I urge you to commemorate this major milestone, but also look ahead to the bright future before us. I look forward to the next era of continued healing, growth, and learning.”
The 2025 program will commence with a special opening event on Sunday, 6 July 2025 at 2:00 pm at Maamba Reserve in Forrestfield. The remainder of the program will offer immersive experiences showcasing local Aboriginal culture, featuring culinary explorations, connections to Country and history, and crafting workshops.
