CANCELLED - Blue Tree Project - Community Painting Day
21 March 2020 : 9:00 AM - 21 March 2020 : 2:00 PM
*** CANCELLED - due to current health advice this event is cancelled *** Join us at Ray Owen Centre to paint two trees. Inspired by the grass roots awareness movement, the Blue Tree Project, which raises awareness around mental well-being. It encourages people to start difficult conversations and open up if they are suffering from depression and/or anxiety.
After a request from a local community member, a family member of Jayden Whyte, has asked for the community's help in the painting of blue trees at Ray Owen Reserve at two locations:
- Ray Owen Reserve (exit road off Gladys Road);
- Ray Owen Reserve (southern end of the football/cricket oval);
Briefing starts at 9am out the front of Ray Owen Sports Centre.
After the painting, the Blue Tree Project will be having a sausage sizzle stall with all monies going directly to the Project. Merchandise will also be on sale. Please bring along some cash, EFTPOS will not be available.
The Blue Tree Project is spreading its important message by giving dead trees a ‘blue’ lease on life. By spreading the paint and spreading the message that "it’s OK to not be OK", we can help break down the stigma that’s still largely attached to mental health. Proudly supported by Bunnings who will be providing the paint and brushes to be used on the day.
