If you answered yes to the above then the City’s Youth Action Kalamunda (YAK) team needs you! The YAK is a group for young people, led by young people. If you live, study, work or play in the City of Kalamunda, are aged 12 - 25 and are passionate about making a difference to your community, then we want you to join the team.
As a YAK member, you will get the opportunity to learn new skills, be inspired, share ideas and develop creative solutions to community issues - all whilst having a sweet time!
The YAK meets for one hour after school once a month during the school term. Each month we will learn a new skill that is relevant to project planning, ranging from budgeting skill to how to design flyers and promotional materials. The YAK team will work towards developing and facilitating an awesome Youth Week WA project in April 2021! Please keep in mind we have young people of all ages, abilities, passions and skills in the YAK. This means that you can get involved as much or as little as you like, and work to your skill sets and interests.
The YAK meetings take place at the in Seminar Room A at the Zig Zag Cultural Centre at 50 Railway Road, Kalamunda. The YAK will meet on the following dates for the first half of 2021:
Every month during the School Term 4pm - 5pmZig Zag Seminar Room A, 50 Railway Road Kalamunda
Yummy snacks are provided to get your creative juices flowing! Check out the events at the bottom of this page for details of our next meeting!
Challenge yourself
Collaborate with like-minded people and create programs surrounding your passions and issues identified within the community. Build a variety of skills including networking, communication, public speaking and coordination. Take a stand and use this platform to make positive change!
We also approach our YAK team with volunteering opportunities when extra assistance is needed at different City of Kalamunda events. These can include MCing at events, helping run an event stall and more! It's a great way to build your skills and add experience to your resume.
Each year, get involved with the YAK Team in a team building day to develop team work, communication and leadership skills. Hosted previously at the Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp and the Kalamunda Water Park, our activities are always fun and unique!
If this sounds like something you’d like to be involved in, then contact the City of Kalamunda’s Youth Team.
