City Celebrates Senior’s Week

City Celebrates Senior’s Week

22 October 2024 9:00 AM

The City of Kalamunda, in partnership with Darling Range Hub, Community Bank Forrestfield, Priceline, Pharmacy Kalamunda and the Woodlupine Family Centre, is excited to host a series of events to celebrate Seniors Week 2024.

This week-long celebration runs from 10-17 November and offers a variety of activities to inspire, educate, connect, and entertain. From engaging workshops to community events, Seniors Week promises something for everyone.

Mayor Margaret Thomas expressed her excitement for the program “Our seniors are the heart of our community, and Seniors Week is a wonderful opportunity to recognise their invaluable contributions. I encourage everyone to join in the celebrations and enjoy the fantastic range of events on offer.”

As part of the festivities, the City’s Recreation Facilities Team will offer FREE activities for seniors throughout the week. These activities include appraisals for new Strength for Life members, helping our seniors stay active and healthy.

A key highlight of the week is the Senior Residents Art Exhibition, which celebrates the creative talent, wisdom, and charm of local seniors aged 55 and above. The exhibition will showcase a diverse range of artworks, with all pieces available for purchase. The theme for 2024 is Odysseys: A Group Exhibition for Older Artists in Kalamunda and will be on display at the Zig Zag Gallery from 9 November to 1 December 2024.

The week will wrap up on a high note with a Light Lunch and Bingo at the Woodlupine Family Centre on Friday 15 November.

For more information or to view the full program, visit the City of Kalamunda website. Please note that some events may require bookings or ticket purchases, so make sure to download the full program for detailed information and registration links.

The City of Kalamunda welcomes all abilities and champions inclusion. To discuss your individual needs please email socialinclusion@kalamunda.wa.gov.au or phone 9257 9958.
