About this Opportunity

The Environmental Health Officer role is responsible for delivering environmental and public health services that protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of the community while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and local government policies. The role supports environmental standards and public health initiatives through education, inspections, investigations, customer service, and the provision of professional advice to community members, businesses, contractors, and internal stakeholders. Key responsibilities include interpreting legislative requirements, responding to enquiries and complaints, conducting inspections, and preparing reports and correspondence to support the delivery of consistent and high-quality environmental health services.

About You

The successful candidate demonstrates professionalism, sound judgement, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to protecting public health and supporting the community.

  • Strong knowledge of environmental and public health legislation, regulations, and local government practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to explain technical and legislative information clearly to diverse audiences
  • Strong customer service focus with the ability to build positive community relationships
  • Well-developed analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience conducting inspections, investigations, and compliance activities
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports, correspondence, and recommendations
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
  • Professional, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality environmental health services
  • Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) or demonstrated progress toward obtaining such qualification

Hours of Work

This is a permanent full time role working Monday to Friday, 75 hours over a 9-day fortnight with a rostered day off option.

About the Benefits

This position offers a salary ranging from $93,063 to $100,087 per annum, depending on experience and skill level, plus superannuation.
