About the Lions Club

The Lions Club Art Award is an annual collaboration between The Lions Club of Kalamunda and the City of Kalamunda. Unusually for a Service Club, the local group of Lions have supported the KALAMUNDA art scene since the inaugural exhibition in 2014. The late Charlie Irwin, a long time member of the Lions Club of Kalamunda approached the Zig Zag Gallery in 2012 with the idea of an art prize which would give local artists at all levels of expertise the opportunity to exhibit in a professional space. The first exhibition comprised of more than 50 pieces which were entered in 4 separate categories resulting in a varied and colourful array of artworks for the public to enjoy. Many first time exhibitors have continued to develop their art practice and continue to participate in exhibitions and award events.
Charlie’s legacy continues with the encouragement of Grant Williams and his group of stalwart supporters within the Lions Club of Kalamunda.
