Kick-Off for Hartfield Park Stage 2 Signals New Era for Forrestfield Sport and Community Life
The City of Kalamunda has officially kicked off construction on Stage 2 of the Hartfield Park Master Plan, with a uniquely local twist.
Instead of turning the sod, Federal Member for Bullwinkel Trish Cook MP, State Member for Forrestfield Hon. Stephen Price MLA, City of Kalamunda Mayor Margaret Thomas, and club representatives kicked footballs, threw rugby balls, launched a discus, and dribbled soccer balls.
This multimillion-dollar initiative represents a major step forward in transforming Hartfield Park into a contemporary, co-located sporting and community precinct for the people of Forrestfield, surrounding suburbs and the region.
Mayor Margaret Thomas said the event celebrated both the diversity and collaboration that underpin the Master Plan.
“This project celebrates investment in new buildings but also in people, participation, and places that bring our community together,” Mayor Thomas said. “These upgraded facilities will support our clubs to grow and thrive for years to come and help deliver long-term health and wellbeing outcomes to the region.”
Stage 2 of the Hartfield Park Master Plan is a staged development focused on modernising infrastructure, increasing accessibility, and co-locating clubs to support year-round use and efficient facility management. The Foothills Men's Shed was recently completed in June 2025 with great success.
Planned upgrades include:
- New pavilion for the co-location of Forrestfield Football Club (AFL) and Forrestfield Little Athletics Club
- New senior change rooms, umpires’ room, toilet, storage and first aid room for Kalamunda Rugby League Club
- Upgrades to changerooms, storeroom and Universal Accessible Toilet for Forrestfield United Football Club.
This project has been made possible thanks to the generous support from the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program and the Government of Western Australia.
The full Hartfield Park Master Plan will be delivered over a 15 to 20 year timeframe, subject to future funding and ongoing consultation with clubs and community members.
