City Calls for Help to Shape a More Inclusive Community
The City of Kalamunda is developing a new Social Inclusion Plan and is calling for community input to help shape the future of inclusion and accessibility across the region.
Set to
replace the current plan, which expires at the end of 2025, the updated Social
Inclusion Plan will guide how the City creates a more connected, accessible,
and welcoming community for people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and
lifestyles.
Mayor Margaret Thomas emphasised the importance of
building a community where everyone feels valued and supported. “Inclusion
isn’t just about access – it’s about building a community where people feel
they belong,” she said.
“We want to hear directly from residents about their experiences, challenges, and ideas so we can continue shaping a City that embraces and reflects the needs of all who live, work, or visit here.”
Drafted in collaboration with the City’s Disability and Carers Advisory Group, the City is now seeking feedback via a community survey to understand how to improve access and inclusion across the City. The survey is based on the seven outcomes of a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP), covering areas such as public spaces, information, services, and community engagement. The insights gathered during the survey will be used to inform the development of the new plan.
All community members are encouraged to take part. Whether you’ve faced challenges accessing local services, have ideas for improving inclusion, or simply want to help strengthen community connections, your input is welcome.
Survey participants will go into the draw to win a $200 Coles Myer gift card (T&Cs apply).

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners, the Whadjuk Noongar People as the Custodians of this land. We also pay respect to all Aboriginal community Elders, past, present and future who have and continue to reside in the area and have been an integral part of the history of this region.
