The City does not provide 240L red-lidded bins for general waste. Our standard general waste bin is 140L, and this is the only size currently available for general waste collection. City supplied bins include serial numbers, our logo and hot-stamped lids. Bins not meeting this criteria won’t be emptied by the City’s waste contractor.

We acknowledge that in some instances residents may have difficulty with managing their general waste, a second 140L general waste bin can be purchased through the City’s Waste Services team.

There are waste education resources available on our website to help you manage or reduce your waste.

It is unclear where the image of the larger red bin originated, or if it had been digitally altered. Posts like those can spread misinformation, generate confusion, and divert staff away from delivering services to our community.
