Bushfire Community Day Heading to the Perth Hills
The City of Kalamunda is thrilled to announce that, in partnership with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), the highly anticipated annual Bushfire Community Day is making its debut in the Perth Hills.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, 6 October 2024, and join us at the Kalamunda Community Centre from 10am to 3pm for a day of fun and learning.
For the first time ever, the Bushfire Community Day 2024 will be held outside the Bushfire Centre of Excellence, bringing this exciting event to the picturesque Kalamunda Community Centre, set against the scenic backdrop of Jorgensen Park. This year's venue, with its versatile indoor and outdoor spaces, offers the perfect setting for an engaging and informative day for all, including your four-legged friends.
This community event provides a unique chance to interact directly with DFES staff and local Bushfire Brigades. Learn how to prepare your home and family for the bushfire season through various informative displays, demonstrations, and interactive exhibits.
Children will be delighted by a range of exciting activities designed to spark their curiosity about bushfire safety.
Mayor Margaret Thomas is particularly enthusiastic about this year's event, emphasising the significance of hosting it offsite from the Bushfire Centre of Excellence for the very first time.
“This year’s Bushfire Community Day is a major milestone for us, as we bring the event to Kalamunda for the first time. It’s a fantastic opportunity for our community to engage directly with bushfire experts in a new and exciting setting,” said Mayor Thomas.
“This event is not only about learning but also about having fun with your family. I encourage everyone to come along, meet your local volunteers, and get prepared for the bushfire season.”
