Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Day

Safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste at the City of Kalamunda’s Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day.

The City of Kalamunda is holding a Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day, giving residents a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of household hazardous waste that cannot be placed in regular household bins.

This event is for household waste only. Commercial waste and commercial quantities will not be accepted.

Household quantity limits

The following limits apply per household:

  • Chemicals and liquid waste – maximum 25 litres combined
  • Pressurised vessels – maximum 5 items combined
  • Smoke detectors – maximum 10
  • Flares – maximum 5

Accepted items include:

  • Engine coolants and glycols
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Flammable liquids
  • Flares
  • Gas cylinders
  • Household chemicals and cleaners
  • Paint
  • Pesticides and herbicides
  • Pool chemicals
  • Unknown chemicals
  • Smoke detectors

How it works

Simply stay in your vehicle and drive through the designated disposal area. Trained staff will safely unload items from your boot, trailer or ute.

Trailers must be no larger than 8 ft x 4 ft.

Conditions of entry

Residents must present:

  • A valid City of Kalamunda Entry Pass, and
  • A current driver’s licence showing a City of Kalamunda residential address.

Both are required to access the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day.

Please note: This is a trial event. Accepted materials, quantities and limits may be reviewed and adjusted for future events based on participation levels, operational requirements and community needs.

Important information

  • Only the hazardous waste items specifically listed for the event will be accepted.
  • This event is outside normal Walliston Transfer Station (WTS) operations. Usual WTS waste streams will not be accepted during the event.
  • The City and event staff reserve the right to refuse any load that does not meet the event conditions, acceptance limits or safety requirements.
  • Abusive, threatening or inappropriate behaviour towards staff will not be tolerated and may result in entry or service being refused.
