15 March 2024 : 10:00 AM - 15 March 2024 : 11:30 AM

Would you like to learn a bit more about how you can make a difference to the environment by placing your waste in the correct bin? At the Resource Recovery Group Canning Vale Centre you can come and see exactly what happens to your waste.

On the tour you will get to see:

🍎 The FOGO Processing Facility, where FOGO (food organics, garden organics) material is pre-processed to remove contamination.

🌳 The Green Waste Facility, where garden waste is received.

♻️ The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where recyclables are separated, baled and sold for reuse.

πŸ‘©β€πŸ« The Education Centre, where there are lots more resources to help you to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Tour path and footwear requirements:
The tour involves spending approximately 30 minutes of walking outdoors πŸŒž on bush paths around the site. A reasonable level of physical fitness is required.

Fully enclosed footwear is essential for all attendees, long pants, a hat, sunscreen and bring a water bottle. All tour participants will be required to wear a high-visibility vest (provided by Canning Vale Centre staff).

Snakes, if you see a snake, please notify the tour guide immediately. In the unlikely event of a situation, your tour guide is trained in first aid should an emergency arise.
Bees and other insects may be active on site, as well as flowering plants year-round. Visitors that have any allergies such as bee stings must bring and carry an Epipen with them.

Swooping birds may be active in the area year-round. Magpies usually breed between August and October and swooping behaviours are most common during this time.
