Artists Biography
Leanne is a multidisciplined artist, with a very diverse studio practice, making and working comfortably alongside her busy public art practice. The one heavily influencing the other. Born in Zimbabwe, her life on two diverse continents has afforded her the opportunity to be inspired on multiple levels, drawing from a rich mine of cultural experience. Leanne’s work explores a combination of strong technical background and sound conceptual thinking and for nearly forty years she has worked full time as an arts professional. With her original strengths as a Graphic Designer, she has designed seven story high public artworks and stitched ting vessels with her own hair. She has illustrated, lectured, tutored, built a textile business, run galleries in both Zimbabwe and Perth, and taken artists under her wing on African adventures! She is presently writing a visual art history that links a little of India and Africa.
