Snapshots from Home with Sasha Wasley
08 August 2023 : 6:00 PM - 08 August 2023 : 7:00 PM
Join bestselling author Sasha Wasley who will be chatting about the WA history that went into her new book, Snapshots from Home.
The book, set in 1917, explores the journey of Edie Stark, a young woman who volunteers for the YMCA's Snapshots from Home League. Edie is a teacher in the wheatbelt town of York, and in her spare time visits soldiers' homes to photograph their loved ones. Taking place against the backdrop of World War One, the Great Strike and the 1917 conscription referendum, and with scenes set at the Midland Railway Workshops and Woodbridge House, guests will enjoy hearing the history and seeing pictures of familiar local spaces.
Books will be available for purchase and signing on the day thanks to Dymocks Midland.
This free event will be at Lesmurdie Library.
