Friends of Toornart Creek

Last updated: 15 May, 2019

About:

Toornart Creek Reserve is a medium sized
(ca. 3.2haImage of waterway re-vegetation in Torrnart Creek Reserve) bushland reserve located across four separate locations between the Beelu National Park and Tregenna Place in the suburb of Gooseberry Hill. The Friends Group consists mainly of local residents, with an interest in working as a close knit community group to increase and protect the reserves’ high biodiversity values, reducing the impact of erosion from episodic rainfall and promoting more awareness and membership of the Friends Group.

Environmental activities have been ongoing since 1999, included planting native reeds and shrubs to protect the creek’s banks from erosion, removing invasive woody weeds, application to funding bodies for environmental works and actively engaging surrounding residents in activities at the reserve.

If you’d like to get involved with the Friends Group to help manage this bushland area, please contact us (details below).
