Transport

Taxi Users’ Subsidy Scheme (TUSS) is a subsidy available to eligible people with disabilities travelling in taxis and taxi cars under the provisions of the Taxi Act 1994 and Transport Coordination Act 1966. Carers can travel with the person using the taxi service.

To be eligible for TUSS a person must demonstrate to the Director General of Department of Transport (through an authorised officer) that they:

• Are a permanent resident in Western Australia;
• Have a disability that will always prevent them using conventional public transport; and
• Are over ten years of age, or less than ten years of age and they use a wheelchair.

To be eligible for TUSS a person must have a disability that falls within one or more of the following three categories:

• Mobility disability
• Vision disability
• Cognitive or intellectual disability

The City of Kalamunda provides a 16 (+ Driver) seater Community Bus and fuel free of charge to local seniors groups and charitable organisations arranging outings for members and older people.

The bus seats 16 passengers (without wheelchairs) or 15 passengers (with up to two wheelchairs).
