To celebrate Australia Day 2011 the Shire of Kalamunda is organising an afternoon of free festivities on Wednesday, 26 January and all residents are invited to join in.

Shire President Cr Donald McKechnie said, "The Shire has organised another colourful program of events for next year's Australia Day celebrations and we invite all residents to come along and share in the community festivities."

"The family-friendly event will be held at the High Wycombe Community and Recreation Centre and will run from from 12pm to 5pm. There will be a variety of fun activities which include entertainment and performances from the Suitcase Circus, the "Wandering in the Bush Show" and a Bush Dancing Show, plus a free sausage sizzle and BBQ facilities available for families to use."

"For the children there will be a 5.5 metre high inflatable water slide as well as bouncy castles, face painting and some fun sports games. Chairs, tables and umbrellas will be set up for the comfort of the public and a Café will also be available to purchase food and drinks," he said.

"There are many wonderful things about living in Australia, and we hope residents and their families can join us to help celebrate what it means to be Australian."
