There are two stations are available in which residents/ratepayers of the City of Kalamunda can utilise.

  • Walliston Transfer Station - operated by City of Kalamunda. Access for City of Kalamunda residents/ratepayers only.
    NOTE: Unlimited access is for green and recyclable waste only. LImited access for general waste. Selected items can NOT be disposed of at this facility - refer below for conditions and disposable options for non-free items.
  • Red Hill Waste Management - operated by EMRC
    NOTE: Fees payable and alternate conditions apply

Residents/Ratepayers of the City of Kalamunda have free access to the Walliston Transfer Station during normal operating hours.  An Entry Pass and Photo ID (e.g. driver’s licence) showing proof of residence is required to use this facility.

Waste Permit Scheme applies to City of Kalamunda residents/ratepayers who use:  Vans |  Trucks | Branded or sign-written vehicles and/or trailers

NOTE: Maximum permitted trailer size 7ft x 5ft. No Trucks or Commerical Loads or Horse Floats.

GARAGE SALE:
Part of the Garage Sale Trail 20 & 21 October 2018

Refer to fees & charges disposal of non-free items for residents of the City. The following items are accepted at Walliston Transfer Station free of charge:

  • Bricks and Building Rubble
  • Cardboard (flattened with no plastic packaging)
  • Clothing & Blankets
  • Dry cell batteries
  • E-waste
  • Fluorescent lights
  • General Household items
  • Glass
  • Lawn clippings and leaves
  • Mattresses
  • Metal of any type (cut to a maximum  of 1.5m length, width, height and not solid)
  • Motor oil (maximum of 20 litres)
  • Motor Vehicle Batteries
  • Timber
  • Pruning’s and branches (green waste)
  • Whitegoods eg. washers, refrigerators (Do not need to be degassed as this will be done On-Site)

The following items are NOT accepted at Walliston Transfer Station

  • Asbestos/Hardiflex
  • Chemicals
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Gas bottles
  • Liquids
  • Paints
  • Sand

The vast majority of household hazardous waste (HHW) including asbestos can be disposed of at Red Hill Waste Management Facility. The only forms of HHW accepted at Walliston Transfer Station are batteries, CFL light globes and motor oil). Please refer to the disposal of hazardous materials section for further information about safe disposal options.

Red Hill Waste Management Facility is managed by the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) of which the City of Kalamunda is a member council. Residents are encouraged to dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW) including asbestos at this facility. General waste and green waste can also be disposed of at Red Hill however the disposal of these items and others is NOT free - please refer to the EMRC website for full fees and charges.
