Plants to Residents provides free plants to ratepayers of the Shire of Kalamunda to support the establishment natural habitat in backyards and verges across the Shire. All plants are tube stock or smaller. The program aims to promote the revegetation of residential and rural properties with local native trees, shrubs and groundcovers. Planting not only improves landscape quality but also provides an array of environmental benefits such as shade, carbon sequestering and shelter for birds, reptiles and small mammals.
There will be two opportunities for residents to collect free plants from the Shire. Residents are entitled to come to one event and collect their plants.
When: Saturday 28th May 2016 from 9am - 12pm
Venue: Forrestfield Hall, Cnr Hale Rd and Anderson Rd, Forrestfield
When: Sunday 5th June 2016 from 9am - 12pm
Venue: Gooseberry Hill Hall, 42 Ledger Rd, Gooseberry Hill
Each event will also have a medium sized Grass Tree as a Door Prize, so don’t forget to fill in a survey form to tell us what you think about the event you attend for your chance to win! Delivery of the Door Prize is included.
Each eligible ratepayer will receive a total of 15 plants each for their property, however plants will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Unfortunately Shire staff cannot hold or deliver plants.
Residents MUST bring:
- photo ID (driver’s license/ passport);
- current Rates Notice (to verify address);
- a container for carrying plants.
