In The Mix

In the Mix

In The Mix is a music program for emerging young artists looking to develop their skills, collaborate with other young musicians and learn about the West Australian music industry through performing at a large outdoor concert. The program includes music workshops which focus on performance and skill development, song writing and tips for the music industry. Youth Services are currently looking for local bands, soloists, duets and DJs to take part in the program.

Young people aged 10-13 are welcome to apply for this program, however 14-25 year olds will be given priority when booking. We are looking for passionate musicians who are keen to learn and collaborate with other young artists. If you are a singer, play an instrument, DJ or if you are simply interested in learning more about music then In the Mix is for you. Performers are welcome to apply as soloists, duets or bands.

As part of the program, there will be five music workshops held over February and March 2019:

  • Monday 4 February 2019, 6pm – 8pm
  • Monday 11 February 2019, 6pm – 8pm
  • Monday 18 February 2019, 6pm – 8pm
  • Monday 25 February 2019, 6pm – 8pm
  • Monday 4 March 2019, 6pm – 8pm

Participants will be invited to perform at an outdoor music concert on Saturday 9 March 2019 as part of the Corymbia Festival in Forrestfield. This concert will take place on an outdoor stage, with professional sound, lighting and huge crowd supplied. To prepare participants for this big performance a mini concert will take place at Focus Music for friends and family.

Daryl from Focus Music will be running the workshops. Daryl has a strong background in performing and playing various styles such as Rock, Jazz, Funk, R&B, Reggae and Blues. His skills allow him to help musicians who find themselves in need of learning that little missing piece of information to help them progress their playing to the next level, whatever that level may be.
