The City of Kalamunda values its volunteers and aims to create an environment which promotes and sustains effective volunteering and builds community capacity. Volunteers make an extraordinary contribution to our community by actively enhancing significant community service programs such as Library Services, Environmental groups, Visitor Centre and Woodlupine Coffee Lounge.

All City of Kalamunda volunteers are police checked (this is paid by the organisation), orientated, placed according to skills, interests and expectations.

Volunteers can work across different programs or work through multiple programs to find the most suitable position for them.

Little Libraries

Community Services are asking for volunteers to look after one or more of the six Little Libraries that will soon be placed in various locations around the City of Kalamunda.
A Little Library is a neighbourhood book exchange where anyone passing can take a book to read or leave a book for someone else to find. Volunteers will be required to:

  • Regularly check on the Little Library
  • Replenish stock when required
  • Ensure stock in the library is appropriate and in reasonable condition
  • Keep library clean and tidy
  • Report any damage/problems to Community Development staff

In order to carry out the above duties volunteers must be self-sufficient with the mode of travel required to go to and from the library and have the ability to lift and carry items.
The City of Kalamunda will support volunteers by acting on any reports of damage or other problems that may arise and advising where stock can be sourced from.
