Shire of Kalamunda - Sports & Recreation - Grants & Funding

CSRFF NOW OPEN

There are a range of different funding opportunities available for sporting clubs. These include both internal and external funding avenues.

Internal funding (from the Shire of Kalamunda) includes:

Non-recurrent budget Self-supporting loans Community initiative financial assistance State/national representatives

Each type of funding has certain conditions that need to be met. You should discuss the application with the appropriate Shire Officer before submitting your application.

Shire staff will alert local sporting clubs who are registered on the Shire’s database to funding opportunities as they become available. This is performed by e-mail so please ensure your club is registered to allow access to the information. This is not exhaustive and clubs are encouraged to personally monitor funding opportunities that may be available for their respective clubs.

It is strongly recommended that each club appoints a funding/grants position within their committee structure. This person can then become familiar with the funding processes and submitting funding applications and make the process far less daunting. The Community Services Officer (Recreation) is also available to assist sporting clubs when making an application.

INTERNAL FUNDING

Non-recurrent Budget

Each year, as part of its annual Budget, the Shire of Kalamunda finances a wide range of community projects and activities that have been identified by residents and community groups.

Local organisations are invited to present a submission for budget consideration to the Shire. All submitted budget requests will be assessed and presented to Council for prioritisation during the four month budget program which begins in March and is finalised in late July each year. Priority is given to capital works projects.

Before submitting budget requests sporting groups must contact the Community Services Officer (Recreation) to discuss their project. Sporting clubs planning projects at Hartfield Park, Kostera Oval and Scott Reserve must first submit their applications to the appropriate advisory/management committee before submitting to the Shire.

Applications forms can be obtained from the Community Services Officer (Recreation) or by clicking here, from February each year.

Applications close in mid March each year, clubs will be notified of the exact date before each funding round.

Self-Supporting Loans

Sporting clubs seeking funds for capital works projects may apply to Council for a self-supporting loan. Self-supporting loans allow sporting clubs to access financial assistance for projects that require a club contribution i.e. clubs rooms, lighting etc. Criteria for a self-supporting loan are similar to that expected when approaching a financial institution. Clubs will be required to show that they have completed thorough project planning and are financially sound. Clubs applying for self-supporting loans for projects will be required to contribute a cash amount to the project as well as the self-supporting loan.

Community Initiative Financial Assistance

The Shire provides funding each year for projects that expand or improve existing services and/or to assist the development of new and innovative service/programs. Projects considered for funding under this program are those that improve the social well-being of the local community and do not include consumable materials or recurring costs. The funding priorities include programs/events that deliver benefits to disadvantaged and high priority groups in the community i.e. persons with disabilities, lower socio-economic groups, indigenous etc.

The funding round opens in August each year and for further information please contact the Cultural Development Officer on 9257 9973.
