Shire of Kalamunda - Senior Services - Social Events

Seniors Week is an annual event to recognise our senior citizens in Western Australia and to celebrate the valuable contribution of older people to community life. The week also challenges some of society's stereotypes about ageing and invites everyone to consider their attitudes towards seniors.
Exciting recreational, informative and educational activities are developed to:
promote celebratory and informative activities for older people and their families to share and enjoy promote the involvement of people of all ages and backgrounds promote positive attitudes to ageing and older people in the community promote public awareness of the contributions, achievements and ambitions of seniors recognise and thank seniors for their contribution to the community encourage community planning for an ageing population.
Events are subsidised by the Shire of Kalamunda. Major sponsors for 2007 included, Council on the Ageing (WA) Inc., Lotterywest, Office for Seniors Interests and Volunteering and Department of Veterans Affairs. Tickets for events include entry fee, meal costs and transport where appropriate.
