Shire of Kalamunda - Senior Services Progammes
Podiatry Services
The Shire provides a subsidised podiatry (chiropody) service in Kalamunda, Forrestfield and High Wycombe. Two clinics are held each week at the Jack Healey Centre, Mead Street Kalamunda. A service is also provided in Forrestfield at the Woodlupine Family and Community Centre, Hale Road and in High Wycombe at the High Wycombe Recreation Centre, Newburn Road. Appointments are necessary for all clinics and can be made by calling 9293 3088 on Monday 9.00am to 12.00noon or Tuesday 9.00am to 4.30pm. Hair Dressing
A hairdressing service is available to seniors, at the Jack Healey Centre, Mead Street, Kalamunda from Monday to Friday by appointment on 9293 3088.
Computer Classes for Seniors
An eight-week course to introduce seniors to computers is offered from the Jack Healey Centre, Kalamunda, the Woodlupine Family and Community Centre, Forrestfield and the Learning Centre in High Wycombe.
In addition to the basic course, from time to time, the Jack Healey Centre offers intermediate courses on "Microsoft Word", "Excel", "Power Point" & "Microsoft Publisher". "Digital Photography on Your Computer" is run regularly & is a popular six week course. The centre also offers "One to One" tutorials; we advise anyone who is completely new to computing, to attend three or four `One to One` sessions to learn `mouse skills` prior to attending the basic course.

Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels service provides a freshly cooked nutritionally balanced meal including main course and dessert or fruit, delivered to your home daily from Monday to Friday. Special diets can be catered for. To Access this service a referral is required from either the persons doctor, Silver Chain or a hospital.

Books on Wheels
The Kalamunda Library co-ordinates a "Books on Wheels" Service for all areas within the Shire. The service provides books and other materials in a large variety of topics and print sizes. If you would like further information regarding this service contact Library Staff on 9257 9969.
Rubbish Removal
A service is available for people who are physically unable to take their rubbish bins to and from the verge. Contact Health Service on 9257 9999 for more information.
Verge Maintenance
A free service is provided annually, usually in October or November, for the clean up of road verges adjoining Senior's properties. At the request of the adjoining residents, Council will also plant two shrubs or small trees on the verge of new or denuded residential areas at the beginning of winter each year. Rates
Rebates are available on the Shire rates for a pensioner or senior's place of residence.
Eligible pensioners and seniors should apply for a concession as soon as they receive the appropriate concession cards, as pro-rata rebates are available. The concession will apply from the date the registration form is received by the Shire. Seniors who receive a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, or a Pensioner Concession Card, should also contact the Shire immediately, as they will be entitled to a higher rebate.
Dog Registration
A pensioner concession of 50% applies to dog registration. This is available to dog owners who hold either a Pensioner Concession Card; or a Seniors Card together with a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card.
Hall Booking Fees
A concession applies for seniors who use the Jack Healey Centre and the Woodlupine Family and Community Centre for meetings. This concession does not apply to social functions.
Seniors Coffee Lounge
The seniors from the Woodlupine Family Centre voluntarily operate a coffee lounge from 10.00am to 12.00noon, Monday to Friday. Coin donation only. All seniors welcome. Bring your friends and family in for a chat.
