Notice of Development
Proposal for Development Application, Demolition of Existing dwelling, proposed Tourism Uses including Accommodation (Chalets), Café (Restaurant) and Micro Distillery (Brewery) – Lot 42 (116) Union Road, Carmel WA (DA17/0341)
The proposal relates to a similar application lodged with the City in February 2017 which did not proceed to determination given that the application was withdrawn by the applicant. The key changes that have been made to the proposal are as follows:
- The reception centre has been removed from the proposal.
- The number of chalets have been reduced to 14 and relocated to a more central location of the site.
The applicant has elected to have the new application considered and determined by the Metro East Joint Development Assessment Panel. Information regarding this process can be found at www.planning.wa.gov.au/Development-Assessment-Panels.aspx

Alternatively, during this submission period, the documents are open for inspection during office hours at the City’s Administration Offices, 2 Railway Road, Kalamunda.
A Community drop in session will be held on on 24 August from 5:30pm to 6:00pm at the Administration Function Room, 2 Railway Rd, Kalamunda to assist the public with any queries. The purpose of the session is for the City’s planning staff to assist the public in interpreting the plans for the proposal that will be on display and answer any questions. These sessions are informal and give the community the opportunity to interact with planning staff on a one-on-one basis. Elected members and the applicant are also invited to attend.
