The City of Kalamunda is moving with the times, and has undertaken a significant overhaul of its Council and Committee meeting structure.

From November the City will have a new Public Agenda Briefing, on the second Tuesday of every month, with the Ordinary Council meeting on the following fortnight.

CEO Rhonda Hardy said, “Agenda Briefing Forums will involve Elected Members, staff and external advisors (where appropriate) and will be open to the public.”

“They will provide the opportunity for Elected Members and the community to be equally informed and seek additional information on matters prior to the presentation of such matters to the next Ordinary Council Meeting for formal consideration and decision.”

“We encourage members of the community to come along to the first Public Agenda Briefing, which will be held on the 14 November 2017.”

“One of the added benefits of the new structure is the second opportunity for Public questions at the end of the meeting, for the purposes of clarification.”

The Public Agenda Briefings will have the following structure:

a)    Official Opening
b)    Apologies and Leave of Absence
c)    Declarations of Interest
d)    Announcements by the Presiding Member (without discussion)
e)    Public Question Time
f)     Public Submissions
g)    Deputations
h)    Reports
i)     Public Questions of Clarification
j)     Closure

Minutes will be kept of all Agenda Briefing Forums.  As no decisions are made at an Agenda Briefing Forum, the minutes will be a general record of the items covered and will record any disclosure of interests as declared by individuals.

A copy of the minutes will be attached to the following Ordinary Council Meeting for Council to review and confirm as being a true and accurate summary of the preceding forum.
