1st Place: Riley Hughes (Eden Art School)

This year the Shire of Kalamunda invited local schools, community groups and artists to participate in the 2013 Banners in the Terrace competition. A huge number of entries were received reflecting the theme ‘Future Focus’.

Acting CEO Clayton Higham said, “Banners in the Terrace is one of the state’s largest community arts projects, featuring banners submitted by Councils from all over Western Australia.”

The winner of Banners in the Terrace 2013 is Riley Hughes from Eden Art School. Riley’s banner ‘Nature at its best’ highly impressed the judges. Riley will also receive a large cash prize of $175 and will now be in the running to win the Statewide 2013 Banners in the Terrace competition.

Second and third prizes were received by Olivia Davidson and Ryan Povah from Kalamunda Senior High School for their entries ‘Look in the Window to the Future’ and ‘Shire of Kalamunda Hills’. The two runners-up will receive a cash prize of $70 each.

The Shire of Kalamunda will arrange for the winning design to be digitally printed and exhibited along St George’s and Adelaide Terraces in the City of Perth during August 2013 to coincide with the annual WA Local Government Convention.
