Bike Week 2017

With Bike Week just around the corner come and join in the Shire of Kalamunda celebrations on Sunday 19 March 2017 at Fleming Reserve in High Wycombe from 9am to 11am.

The free Bike Week event is for the whole family, so bring along your own bike or try a one for free!

There’s a fun Bling Your Bike Competition with great prizes donated by Kalamunda Cycles for the best decorated bike, plus some great BMX sessions by Freestyle Now. And there will be fun tandems and pedal bikes for hire with helmets also provided.

“Bike Week aims to offer something for everyone, from casual bike riders and commuters to children, families and everyone in between” said WestCycle Chief Executive Officer Matt Fulton.

The Bling Your Bike Competition has three age categories – from 0 to 5, 6 to 10 and 11 to 16 years – and all the fun starts at 9:30am. So get creative and see how bling you can be!

Freestyle Now will be running two BMX Clinic sessions – basic bike-handling skills at 9am and skatepark skills at 10am.

Other activities include a slow bike race, free bike hire including fun tandems and pedal bikes with helmets provided, free face painting, a free sausage sizzle and free fruit.

Bike Week is Western Australia’s annual celebration of riding a bicycle for transport. Presented in partnership by the Department of Transport and WestCycle, the festival will run from Friday 17 March to Sunday March 2017.

The event aims to encourage people of all ages to take up cycling as a healthy and inexpensive mode of transport, and celebrates those who already cycle.
