The Kalamunda Council has adopted the 2017/2018 budget at a Special Council Meeting last night in High Wycombe.

Shire President Andrew Waddell said, "The budget continues its theme of sustained growth and maintenance of our infrastructure with the desire to keep rate increases to a minimum."

"The 2017/2018 Budget reflects a trend of strong fiscal management, through maintaining tight control over expenditure and ensuring strategic outcomes contained within the Shire's Strategic Community Plan are delivered."

"It is a responsible budget and takes into account the tough economic conditions all West Australians are facing."

"The Budget reflects a modest increase in rates of 2% for General Residential category and a significant Capital Works Program, with investment in the areas of Roads, Buildings, Parks and Ovals."

Council remains strongly committed to serving the community, caring for our rich natural environment, our social and cultural needs and the built environment.

The Shire has also this week adopted its new Strategic Community Plan. This budget is the start of delivering on our new vision of connected communities, caring for nature and creating the future together.
