The City of Kalamunda is calling for comment on a Draft Industrial Development Strategy to meet the needs of community and local economy into the future. The provision of land for Industrial Development in the City of Kalamunda provides economic value to the community. Accessible, well designed industrial developments ensure ongoing economic growth and sustainability for the City of Kalamunda and the greater Perth Metropolitan Area.
Mayor John Giardina said, “The Strategy will form a component of the City’s new Local Planning Strategy, which will provide direction for areas of housing, activity centres, environmental planning, planning incorporating industrial zones, infrastructure and servicing. We encourage all residents to have their say, and tell us what is most important to them in terms of developing industrial areas.”
The City currently has a total of approximately 351ha of industrial land, spread across five suburbs in Forrestfield, High Wycombe, Wattle Grove, Kewdale and Walliston. Key development precincts identified are broadly as follows:
- 1. Forrestfield Marshalling Yards;
- 2. Forrestfield Industrial Area;
- 3. Forrestfield / High Wycombe Light Industrial Area Stage 1;
- 4. Maddington Kenwick Strategic Employment Area (MKSEA);
- 5. Wattle Grove South;
- 6. Walliston Industrial Area; and
- 7. Hatch Court / Stirling Crescent Light Industrial Area.
