The City of Kalamunda’s work in developing Tourism in the region has received recognition, with the City taking home Gold at the 2018 Perth Airport WA Tourism Awards held at Crown Perth in November 2018.

The City was announced as a finalist earlier this month in the category of Excellence in Local Government Tourism. The City was awarded Gold for its work in the field, assisting Tourism operators, undertaking events and in the establishment and delivery of the Experience Perth Hills brand campaign.

The brand behind the region, Experience Perth Hills positions the City of Kalamunda and the Perth Hills as a unique tourism destination that offers a mix of natural environmental attractions, vibrant art and culture, vineyards, restaurants and cafes, right on Perth’s doorstep.

Mayor John Giardina said “We are so proud of all we have achieved to date under the Experience Perth Hills Campaign”.

“The Perth Hills is one of Perth’s hidden gems, with so much to offer. We have been working hard towards elevating the status of the Perth Hills region as a tourism destination, so to receive recognition through this Award is testament to the City’s commitment to the promotion of our beautiful region”.

Tourism is a key focus, with the City of Kalamunda owning the Experience Perth Hills brand, and also operating the Perth Hills Visitor Centre and other key attractions. The City has also recently sought feedback from community and key tourism players in the region and is in the process of developing its first Tourism Development Strategy.

The City recently wrapped up the Perth Hills Spring Festival, which showcases the best of tourism through events and activations in the Perth Hills region over five weeks.
