TOWN PLANNING

The Shire of Kalamunda is responsible for the control of land use and development having regard to the unique characteristics of the Shire.

The Shire of Kalamunda Local Planning Scheme No. 3Local Planning Policies  and Local Planning Strategies provide directions for land use planning in the Shire.

 

DEVELOPMENT APPLICATIONS

Planning approval is required to commence development on any commercial, industrial and with some exceptions residential zoned land within the Shire of Kalamunda.  Applicants are requested to contact the Shire’s Town Planning department for advice in respect to the lodgement of an application.

SCHEME AMENDMENT

Any proposal to rezone, recode or have an additional use on a property requires amending the Shire’s local Planning Scheme.  The Shire’s Local Planning Scheme guides and controls landuses.  Essentially, the Scheme identifies what you can do with your land.

SUBDIVISIONS

The Western Australian Planning Commission is the responsible Authority for determining all Green Title or Survey Strata subdivision applications.
Prior to lodging a subdivision application with the Western Australian Planning Commission, you should discuss the potential for subdivision with Shire’s Town Planning department.

STRATEGIC PLANNING

The Shire of Kalamunda Town Planning Department undertakes strategic planning to manage and coordinate the future development of the Shire of Kalamunda. These include the review of the local planning scheme, structure planning for future residential and industrial areas of the Shire, rural strategies and policy development.
