Schools and local non-profit community groups across the Shire are encouraged to adopt a bus shelter and to create artwork on the shelter. This is an opportunity for groups to identify themselves in the community through the artwork on the shelters.
In some cases Council may provide paint up to the value of $400 for approved projects.
The following general guidelines are applicable:
- The bus shelters should are not to be used for the purpose of direct advertising.
- Participants in the programme are encouraged to maintain the adopted shelter and tidy up the artwork should it be defaced. In most cases the better the quality of the artwork the more likely it is left alone.
Groups who have participated so far: Youth Action Kalamunda Inc., Girl Guides, Cubs, CWA, New Generation Artists, St Bridges Primary & College, Mary’s Mount Primary, Edney Road Primary and more.
