Volunteers greet and welcome visitors and locals to the centre. They answer tourism queries directing clients to the appropriate resources. Regular monthly training is provided including trips to familiarise volunteers with the tourism businesses within the shire.

Podiatry Services - Receptionist phone 9293 1067 – Volunteer Co-ordinator
Volunteers provide support in areas of administration, secretarial and reception work. This is a Health Department subsidised service for persons over 60 years of age which operates from Kalamunda, Woodlupine and High Wycombe.
Kalamunda HACC – Peter Anderton Respite Centre phone 9359 9703 Volunteer Co-ordinator
Programs operate from Peter Anderton Respite Centre in Forrestfield from Monday to Saturday.
Volunteers at the Day Centre assist the co-ordinator and staff to meet the social needs of the members. Entertainment, outings, meals and refreshments are provided but most importantly the centre provides a warm and friendly meeting place. Our services include the provision of transport for clients to attend medical appointments. Volunteers are invaluable in assisting us to provide this service whether they can offer a few hours a month or are available on a weekly or daily basis. A vehicle, currently based in Kalamunda, is available to facilitate the service.
Kalamunda HACC – Community Visitors Scheme phone 9257 1222 – CVS Coordinator
The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a Federal Government initiative established to promote links between people living in an Aged Care Home and the wider community.
The CVS Scheme aims to enrich the quality of life of residents who are at risk of becoming socially isolated or lonely. Through our volunteers, we provide a friendly visitor who is there just for them. Visits are done on a regular basis for an hour a fortnight.
Depending on you and the resident you visit, you may spend your time together in a number of ways. You might sit and chat, work on a hobby or something of interest. Discuss the local news or the “happenings” in the community. If the resident is able, you might go out for a walk or go on an outing together.

Volunteers are used in all branches to assist with the selection of reading material for the "Books on Wheels" clients. This very important service provides an opportunity for committed individuals to support those members of the community who find themselves housebound. This position requires 5-6 hours per week - preferably on one day.
Kalamunda History Village Volunteers phone 9293 1371 – Museum Attendant
Kalamunda History Village is managed by the members of the Kalamunda and Districts Historical Society on behalf of the Shire of Kalamunda. Volunteers are sought to assist with the hands on activities for school students visiting the Village and the multitude of tasks which make it a local history museum of distinction. Training and support given to volunteers.

Every year the Shire of Kalamunda in conjunction with local seniors groups offers many varied and exciting activities to seniors from the community during Seniors Week in October. Volunteers support the planning, preparation and delivery of events throughout the week.
Environmental Groups phone 9257 9806 Environmental Reserves Officer Shire of Kalamunda
There are currently 43 volunteer, very active “Friends Groups” within the Shire. Each individual group plays a pivotal role in caring for a particular Bushland Reserve and has access to Council support facilitated by the Environmental Reserves Officer. Activities include planting seedlings, weeding, bushland restoration and general habitat maintenance. Training is provided, along with spirited friendship, loads of fun and fresh air. New volunteers are always welcome in the existing groups or enquiries can be made about establishing a new group to care for currently Friend-less bushland reserves. Catchment management, Landcare and Sustainability oriented groups are also locally active in the Shire.

Corymbia is the Shire of Kalamunda’s annual community festival. It is built around business and community participation with the aim to deliver entertainment to residents and visitors alike. Volunteers assist with a variety of tasks. Greater assistance is being sought from community groups and volunteers on the planning aspect of the festival.
